Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Doug Schaffer and I am a web developer with a diverse background of experience, skills and abilities. I like to apply my creative and technical skills in as broad a range as possible and enjoy being challenged.

I am a balanced marriage between a designer's eye and a programmer's mind. I can effectively work with type, color and space in both a web and print setting while also having an intimate knowledge of the underlying applications, processes and code bases present in today's technology. I am well versed and up to date in best practices using markup languages such as XHTML and CSS, proficient in Javascript and AJAX with experience using libraries such as jQuery, Moo Tools and scriptaculous, and heavy experience with server side platofrms such as PHP and ASP.NET, object modeling, and SQL integration. I am also proficient in Adobe's Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks), Quark XPress and Final Cut Studio.

At the present time I am employed fulltime at an agency in Fairfield, CT working with exciting brands and sites that really exploit my cross browser front end design as well as developing functionality and structure in a .NET environment using C#, Master Pages, client side scripts, class development and database integration. There is also a strong emphasis on code portability, scalability and flexible design standards that I employ and improve upon everyday. I also engage in both freelance web design for several clients, as well as volunteer projects where available.

I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for 8 semesters and attained a 3.12 GPA in the Information Technology program with a concentration in the Arts. I then went on to attend Western Connecticut State University on a Contract Major encompassing Visual Arts, Graphic Design and Communications along with a Computer Science minor. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in January of 2007.
