Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Doug Schaffer and I am a creative designer with a diverse background of experience, skills and abilities. I like to apply my creative skills in as broad a range as possible and enjoy being challenged.

I am a balanced marriage between a designer's eye and a programmer's mind. I can effectively work with type, color and space in both a web and print setting while also having an intimate knowledge of the underlying applications, processes and code bases present in today's technology. I am well versed in markup languages such as XHTML and CSS, scripting technologies such as Javascript and Ajax, scripting libraries such as Moo Tools and JQuery, and serverside languages such as PHP and ASP. I am also proficient in Adobe's Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks), Quark XPress and Final Cut Studio.

At the present time I am working as a full-time web designer at Jupitermedia in Darien, CT, where I am performing maintenance to existing sites as well as redesigning and creating both current and new sites. I also engage in both freelance web design for several clients, as well as volunteer projects where available.

I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for 8 semesters and attained a 3.12 GPA in the Information Technology program with a concentration in the Arts. I then went on to attend Western Connecticut State University on a Contract Major encompassing Visual Arts, Graphic Design and Communications along with a Computer Science minor. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in January of 2007.
